How can I make pediasure at home?

DS's pediatrician is concerned about my 16 months old lack of weight gain. He suggested pediasure 2-3 times a day, but it's really expensive. Is there an alternative to make it at home? Thanks in advance.

  • Ask his pediatrician because i'm not 100% sure on exactly how it needs to be prepped but one of my friends was told to use Carnation Instant Breakfast mix instead of pediasure but there was a certain way she had to make it so it had so many calories per ounce/serving

  • There are generics to Pediasure, Pediasure also makes one called NutriPals that is cheaper.

  • You might also ask you dr for other alternatives/suggestions.

  • Pediasure has a lot of sugar. Ask your family doctor to refer you to a nutritionist. In the interim, focus on foods that are calorie and nutrition dense, like avocado (makes great puddings); smoothies made with full fat yogurt and ground flax seeds, etc.
