Is it ok to leave almost 3 year old in the car?

I am 8 months pregnant and want to go garage sailing but it is so hard to get my son in and out of his car seat over and over. Is it ok to leave him in the car when I am 5-10 feet away, just looking for a couple of minutes? What do you think? I would never even consider leaving him when I couldn't see him and get to him in ten seconds so don't think I'm a bad mom for considering this please.

  • Honestly, garage saleing when you park right there in front... Leave the window down and leave him strapped in. It's not illegal to leave your child in a parked car thats turned off when your standing right there. No biggie. Kids are hard sometimes and you have to do what you can...

  • Why don't you ask your your son if he minds being in the car why you quickly look. I know my son wouldn't let me leave him in...when I get out he gets out.

  • Find a babysitter. Toddlers can escape too easily and you are in no condition to be chasing him down. And yes they can work the release button on carseats. I just wouldn't do it at all.

  • I wouldn't, you shouldn't and I believe the above poster is right about it being illegal.
