What's going to happen when the government can no longer "hold" the New Health Care Reform?

No more money to pay the doctors, prescriptions, therapy, treatment and diagnosis, etc.

  • The bureaucrats in charge of the program will sit down and re-write which benefits the gov't will continue to pay for, and the requirements you must meet to qualify for the gov't to pay for your medical care, and very likely they will also change the amount of money the gov't will reimburse doctors & hospitals for the costs of caring for you.

This has happened time and again with the gov't healthcare programs MediCare and MedicAid, and MediCal. Oh, and also the amount of red tape increased astronomically.

These gov't practices have FORCED medical professionals to quit handling MediCare patients, et al

Also -in the healthcare bill are already provisions about the extra hoops every doctor & hospital will have to jump through to be on the list of "approved" providers. Just like insurance companies, except that you can go to a diff company, and the insurance companies can be sued. But the gov't's decrees must be obeyed.

  • They will give us a choice between having to pay unsustainable health insurance policies or have the government take over the health care industry and operate as a universal health care system. It will happen eventually if this bill isn't found unconstitutional.
That or when the R's take Congress they can refuse to fund the legislation and it will sit until Dems have a majority like they do now.

So isn't this moot if everyone is covered and on "the plan"? How will providers be able to turn folks away if EVERYONE has the same or similar coverage under the government plan? If additional "cadillac" plans are available, will Mds only treat those few and ignore the masses? How will Mds be able to stay in business? Mds are going to have the same lack of control they have now, but their pt load will remain high, if everyone is covered.

  • My fear is that we'll keep on the same habit of borrowing money from other countries to fund stuff we can't afford - counting on our future generations to foot the bill.

Our poor kids and grandkids will not be thanking us for what we're loading on them.

  • To the PP. The doctors will go to PAY IN CASH ONLY. Plenty of people have the resources to pay for their own care. The rest can go to county hospitals and wait in line at the few doctors that will accept medicaid.

It was MEDICARE that we were discussing. You know...Health Care for the retired people over age 65. Medicaid is a whole other issue. And how many people have CASH to cover surgery, for example,or cancer treatments, etc. that can run up to ..oh, $100,000.00 ? Pay by cash? Where did that little gem come from? LOL.

  • That will never happen because they will always have the taxpayers to go to for more money.

  • :19::: People should have thought about that before they decided they wanted welfare for all. Doctors are not going to work for minimum wage they put a lot into their education and they deserve to be paid for it. The original question was about HCR not medicare and how it would be funded when we really do run out of money.

In a capitalistic society you get paid what the market will bear, not what you deserve to be paid. No money= No money. Mds will need to work for less or go hungry, just like everyone else. You ride the high and accept the lows too.
