ss funds

hello i have a Q. i have a friend that was the payee for her grandaughter for a little while her grandaughter got a big lumpsum from ss.
the grandma was using some of the funds to help her son and the grandaughter mother with rent and bills becuz the son lost his job,and the other daughter with her kids becuz none of them are able to stay with the mom, but she is putting the money back into the account, but the thing is the grandma was on probation for something else,, so what will happen if ss found out she was using the child funds to help her mom and the other kids the grandma has the grandchild has had her since birth,,

what will ssa do to the grandma,
the grandma is disabled and get ssi as well
plz be NICE!!!

  • She would probably be in trouble. SS funds have to be accounted for and they can only be used for the recipient. But chances are that she wouldn't really get cought. We had a family memeber stealing SS money from another and we reported it, nothing happened. Maybe they just have too much of a back log, i don't know.
