Moving food stages

How did you know to move your baby up to the next food stage?

DS is on stage 2 foods and doing wonderful! I was just trying to get a feel of when to move him to stage 3, or how to know.

  • He's only 7 months old? He's not old enough for the 3rd stage foods. He may be doing great, but 3rd stage foods are a LOT thicker and a LOT chunkier - and with certain things the chunks are hard. I skipped 3rd foods with my 2nd-4th kids, went from 2nd to table foods. But 7 months is way too early. Keep going with the 2nd stage for a while.

  • Third stage foods are pointless, go to table foods.

  • I read stage 3 starts at 8 months or when they can crawl. Hence the crawler emblum maybe? lol... My son started eating table foods at 7 months cause he refused to eat baby food anymore.

  • No need for stage 3 ever. By 8 months we moved our kids straight to table food, cut up small or mashed with the back of a fork.
