Why do mexicans always have chihuahuas?

I do not mean this as rude. But I always see Mexicans with chihuahuas! And my neighbors had one that ran off and so they went and got a new one. We havent known them long enough for me to come out and ask. I don't want to offend them they are sweet ppl! But I have always wondered this. Sorry if it comes across offensive!!

  • ive never noticed that either...as for the golden retrievers...thats why i ended up getting one, cuz theyre such awesome dogs on tv..lol..but yet mine is such a pain..he digs, he chews, he barks at everyone, wont let strangers get close to us, (verrry protective), very hard to take him to the park with my daughter, because he barks and growls at the kids...soo yaa...lol..false advertising!!!!! but i must say, hes 3 now and hes alot better, he doesnt dog or chew stuff...but the barking at strangers still pisses me off...ohh well...hes so frickin cute!!! and hes my big 80lb lap dog..lol :)

  • man, around here the Mexicans have mutts, the blacks have pits, the whites have labs or little lap dogs. Oh and the gays have cats.

We have a german shephard, a yorkie, a tabby/manecoon, a long hair tuxedo, a parakeet, and 2 african clawed frogs.

  • Mmm... I actually haven't seen one single Mexican with a chihuahua in our neighborhood and it's a very diverse one. They have pits, mixed breeds, but they almost all have medium to big dogs.

  • i havent seen many mexicans with small dogs, period where we are at. i have seen a lot of pitts with them, tho. i think that may be just a common based on what everyone has said.lol. i , too have golden retriever, and he is my 120lb lap dog! hes 2 and great with my 7 year old son. im surprised to hear about them chewing on stuff, i never really had a problem with him with chewing, in fact hes had the same toys since he was a puppy, he kinda just nibbles on them, lol. he does bark at strangers though, but i consider that a good thing more often than not! we also have 3 cats, a boxer, an english bulldog, and a bsset mix, and a hermit crab, lol. there seem to be a lot of bassets around here (near louisville ky) i wonder about that! ( we brought ours from down south when we moved so i dont count, lol)
