  • All you need is the ability to make a fire, hershey's chocolate, marshmallows, and honey graham crackers to make it fun. Smores are the best camping thing ever!
We went camping a lot as a kid. Are you going to the woods and pitching the tent or to a campground w/sections for tents? Woods are better, more fun to be away from it all. But, I'd recommend the campground for a first timer. :-)
All you need is sleeping bags, or a few blankets and pillows. Change of clothes, flip flops or easy slip on shoes for the late night bathroom breaks, tp if you're going to the woods and a bag for the tp trash.
Tell ghost stories (if you're kids old enough to know it's a story and not get too scared), or start a story and keep going around the three of you and continuing it. It can be fun to see what you each come up w/to add to the story.
Go hiking or walking through the trees, fishing, swimming if it's near a lake.

  • Camping can be a lot of fun if you make plans before you go. First, I will say that it is better to stay at an established campground (like KOA), because there is security. For a list of things to take, go here:

  • You'll also need quick and easy food and drinks. As a kid, we always took stuff that could be eaten w/out cooking or refrigeration, and drank sodas or juice boxes. If it's in the woods, you'll need clean water in some sort of container (we always took a big jug). Also, hand sanitizer works well in place of hand washing after using the bathroom since water and soap is rarely available.

  • Well, anon 08, if you're in bear country, I'd put it in the tree and get the hell away! :-) We always used a box.
