what to do when BF baby bites on nipple?

my son 6.5months is teething
he has been recently doing quick bites on my nipple, or he has bit down and pulled back...ouch

what can i do to make him stop?

  • The only thing that I've ever heard of doing is when the bite happens, unlatch the baby and put him down. Do it every time he bites and he'll get the picture that food stops when he bites.

  • I agree, my DD did that. I put her back into her crib and let her lay there for what must have seemed to her eternity, I'd say 4 whole minutes. She never did it again. Oh wait..I also gave her a tiny thump on the nose. Not very hard at all, just enough to get her attention and said NO! I can't remember, but I probably yelled OW when she bit me too.
