Okay who do potential employers call- do they call just your references or do they actually call human resources of some of the places you have worked?

  • They will call who they see to be most relevent to the job you apply for. The only questions they may ask the former employer was did so and so work at this company and are they rehireable.

  • Now what happens if human resources says you are not eligible for rehire?

  • If you believe that HR will say that you are not eligible for rehire, then you need to be upfront about it, before the potential new employer makes that phone call.
