what was the most useful piece of breastfeeding advice you recieved?

For me I think so far I would have to say it was either stay hydrated or relax...

  • Throw away all clocks and watches. (well, not literally, unless you can't help but try and time the feeding). Nurse on demand, even if the baby just finished nursing 15 mins ago. And the only indication of supply is diaper count. Pump output means NOTHING.

  • Not to supplement or pump in the first few weeks (we ended up never having to pump)

  • The best advice I ever received about breastfeeding was... It might be hard, really hard in the beginning, but it is soooo worth it.

  • BUT, if you have a NICU baby, pumping can be VITAL in the first days.

  • Introduce a bottle of breastmilk at 3 weeks. I work outside the home and had to be comfortable with giving my baby a bottle.
