Why do people care how I dress my children?

My mother in law and sister in laws are always talking about how I dress them. I admit I spend alot on both of them. My son has like 10 pairs of shoes and hes 4 and my daughter has a headband to match every outfit shes 4 months. But what does it matter to them? We both work and pay for our children 100% from medical to clothes to our rent so why does it bother them? heres examples!

  • My family makes comments all the time how my son always has the cutest clothes, I guess I never liked that typical "boy" look so he does match and is dressed nice and like you, I shop at target and kohls so I am really not spending more than most other mom's.. I often find great deals at the second hand store also - he also has 8 pairs of shoes and he's 2-1/2 lol!! he's a shoe kid and loves shoes lol!!

  • They are probably jealous!! Or they could be the type of people who have to find things to pick and complain about.....and are not happy unless they are making someone else feel bad. I would not let their rude comments bother you. I say dress your kids how you want!!

  • I bet that they are jealous, I know people like that also. I buy my 4 year old daughter True Religion jeans and someone in our family just has a fit. Not their child, not their money, none of their damn business is what I tell them.

  • I don't know why people care about what we do with our children! I am the same way with my daughter. She has a matching hairbow and shoes for every outfit. She is 4 and has probably 30 pair of sandals in her closet for Summer!

  • It has nothing to do with jealousy. I think it's ridiculous too and I'm not jealous of you.
I don't see it as a smart financial move to spend excessive amounts of money on a child's woredrobe. Regardless if you got the clothes cheap or not, there is a limit to too much being too much. I don't see the point in spending 20 dollars on children's jeans or buying them 10 pairs of shoes. What four year old needs 10 pairs of shoes? They need a pair of sneakers, sandals, and dress shoes that's all.

You're right, they shouldn't care how you waste your money, but it is a bit outrageous that you feel jusitifed in doing it. I think it's helarious how people say "They're just jealous". You want people to be jealous of you, but I garuntee you nobody is.

It's a waste of money to buy expensive clothing for a child. For them to have 10 pairs of shoes. It is a financial downfall. But if you enjoy it. Have at it.
