can you help

well i due on june 30 so im like 36 weeks pregnant.i was having sex with dh when he tells me that i feel more open then usually.can you dialate without having contractions i was just wondering why would i feel more open thats wierd to me but what do ya think

  • Yes you can dialate without having contractions. Some women are dialted for weeks before they even go into labor.

  • Lots of times at that last regular check-up dr will tell you how dialated you already are.

  • It's not an old wives tale Evelynwest.

    There is TRULY a hormone in sperm that ripens the cervix and orgasm releases a hormone that causes the uterus to contract. If your body is ready it can put you into labor or put you closer to it.

    To the OP...YES you can dilate without feeling contractions but that should NOT make your vaginal wall feel more open at this point. It's the cervix that dilates at this point. It's not the vaginal wall that makes any changes until active labor.

    It was probably just the position you were in.
