  • do you have a link? The only thing I have seen is that the Turkish ships were trying to get into port without authority to do so. Israel has the right to know if there are weapons being smuggled in. Humanitarian aid has not been stopped. This was absolutely provoked by the Turkish ship.

This ship was 80 miles off any coast, well in international waters, and under the jurisdiction of international high seas treaties. It was a turkish ship, flying a turkish flag. Even given that the blockade is legal (something I think is suspect) the only legal justification for boarding a ship flying any nation's flag in international waters is if that ship is engaged in piracy or slave trade. Israel's jurisdiction ends 12 miles off the coast. The legal action would be to board the ship once is reached Israeli waters, ensure the cargo matched the manifests, then allow the 10,000 tons of food and medical supplies to reach Gaza, where it is needed. Actions like this are why the blockade is entirely illegal. There are laws against collective punishment.

  • The organizers on the ship did not LISTEN to or RESPOND to the calls of Israeli forces before they entered the ship... This could have allowed themto peacefully aboard the ship to inspect. The Flotilla organizers did NOT do this. The question is why did they NOT respond to Israeli officials initially???

  • 4 to the chest, 1 to the head. That's what Israel did to the 19 year old American citizen helping transport basic supplies: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/03/AR2010060301931.html

Because the UN does not recognize the blockade as legal and the flotilla was legally in international waters when Israel boarded it.
