After 17 yrs we have a sort of unspoken way of doing things. If we have a disagreement, I make sure to get my WHOLE point across..... then I allow him to go on and on and have the last word. I walk away. I usually am the one to "make up" first. He will think about my point of view and 99.9% of the time come back and either agree with me, compromise with me, or apologize. He NEEDS to have the last word... he really can not stand not to. So, as long as my point has been made, I allow him that. He ALWAYS considers my side of things.
It was a hard thing to learn.... learning how to successfully disagree.... but we have and we have a nice solid marriage. Everyone has a different dance... but the sooner you learn the steps the sooner the arguing demishises.
