How to treat cold/coughs?

My daughter has a cough and a coughs terribly. And I had a nurse telling me to give her a Saline Nasal Spray to clear out her stuffy nose. Then to lessen her cough, warm apple juice. I just wonder if any of you use the same method or completely different?

  • Apple juice does not help with cough and shouldn't be given to babies less than 6 mo (maybe 4 mo in formula fed babies). Apple juice may be the worst juice for babies and the AAP says babies should have no more than 4 oz juice a day and should drink it in an open cup, not a bottle or sippy cup.

  • If your baby is that young there is really nothing you can do about it.Just let him/her get over it.My 3 month old had a cold and I asked his doctor about it,and he said baby's should NOT tka emedicine like that until 2 years of age.
