You & Your Kids Names Popularity - Want to play?

Since this is the 'just for fun' section - anyone up for playing along?

Follow the link: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

On the right side of the screen you'll see a box where you can enter a name; choose a sex; and the # of years you'd like to track that names popularity.

Do whomever's name/s you like - choose 100 yrs.

Come back here and post the oldest Ranking; Ranking @ birth/time of naming & Ranking today - the Ranking # will be out of the top 1,000 Baby Names for that year. If no data is given that means the name didn't make it in the top 1k cut.

  • My son's name (Jeremy) has been in the top 1000 since 1942 with the exception of 1942 and 1947. In 1976, his name was the 14th most popular name and in 2004 (the year he was born), it was the 111st most popular name. My name (Amy) has been popular since 1912. It even got the number 2 slot in the 70's. My husband's name, however, has never been in the top 1000 and we have never met another person with his name.
