  • not sure but i don't like the idea of fasting. I am not sure what it proves really. I mean I get the whole giving up things

  • Fasting is a way to be reflective and penitent. It's not supposed to "prove" anything. It is for an individual's own faith relationship with God. As a matter of fact, Jesus remarks specifically on not going around telling people that you're fasting, or looking miserable so that others can admire your fast. It is an internal affair, he advises to go about your business and try not to look sallow or starved.

  • Fasting was to show your sorrow and repentance of sin. A humbling in front of God. There are many occasions in the bible concerning fasting.
