Do you base your opinions about current events on fact or emotion?

Or a combination of both?

I have seen a lot of posts from members that give opinions based on emotions and not facts. Do you look beyond facts and let emotions direct your opinions, or do you try to base your opinions solely on facts?

*current events having to do with all things in the news that are being reported on now, such as the oil leak in the gulf, politics, entertainment, etc.*

  • Facts. Emotions can lie to you.

Fact: You only have $50 left until payday, and the pantry is empty.
    Emotion: I really NEED a manicure, it's a NEED,

You end up getting the manicure, but don't have food.

    Fact: You are stupid
Emotion: OMG, this wouldn't have happened if my boss would only pay me more!

    End result: stupid wins

  • IDK. I try to let facts form my opinions, but I guess it depends on the subject. If I feel more passionately about something I am probably more likely to let emotions leak into my opinions. I have never really thought about this before. Admittedly, I am not a very emotional person, but there are some subjects that I feel more about than others.

Hmmmm, I guess I will have to think about this more.

  • Well we all know I base mine of how I feel things should be run. I am not ashamed of it because I think if more people went on how they feel things may be different!JUST MY OPINION!

  • Mostly fact. The world does not operate on emotion. If it did the world would be a bigger mess than it is.
