I have a slow cooker question

I am wondering if anyone knows what to use as an alternitive for a lid. I broke my glass lid to my slow cooker, and cant seem to find a replacement. My first thought is to cover it with foil but I dont know if that will work okay. I really cant afford to buy a new one right now, and I am really missing it.

  • Foil should work fine as long as you crimp it tight around the edges.

  • I always just lay a cookie sheet over something that needs lids. It's easier to grab off w/the oven mitt (good thing, because it gets hot).

  • Foil will work fine. It needs to have a decent seal, so it'll be better than a cookie sheet or a plate, unless you have a plate that fits perfectly. I've done foil many times when I can't make a hunk of frozen meat fit all inside without pusing the lid open.
