Saw this on a post... This is what I see as alternatives.
Food in cold storage. We used to have to salt meat, now we froze, or by cured, smoked,and seasoned meats. But still need to be refrigerated, so perhaps liquid nitrogen is a new status symbol of the big truth in big corporations. (or small !!) Can we make liquid nitrogen??
For heating, the solar powered grids are a tax write 0ff.
For electricity like lights and generators we would use batteries, or even hurricane lamps with mineral oil. , or even vegetable oil , maybe we can even recycle our cooking oils to use for the lamps afterward.

This is the kind of backward thinking that brought us ethanol. You know how much gas is used to make 1 gallon of ethanol from corn? 1 1/2 gallons.
