My 8 month old daughter is on antibiotics because they found ecoli in her urine...

1. Is that common?
2. Is she contagious at all?
3. Is it safe to take her around younger babies?

  • Yes, it's common. She probably got poop in her vagina. It happens. I don't think that makes her contangious, unless she's peeing and pooping on other kids.

  • yes, it is common. ecoli is naturally found in the anus, and since a girls urethra is so close to the anus, it can easily travel there and cause an infection. ecoli is the most common cause of a urinary tract infection, which is what your daughter has. not contagious at all, totally safe to take her around other babies.
