Ok this might sound like a dumb question so bare with me. Is the pell grant paid directly to you or do they pay it directly to your school you are attending? thanks in advance!

  • you. but if you're planning to apply for the pell grant the year after, just remember the school will open the tally books and see how much cash you put on your tuition.

  • I think it pays tuition first and anything left over goes to you.

  • It actually depends on the school. I think most schools get the money first and then send you the difference. There probably won't be much of a difference though.

  • I went to a state university and it was paid to the school. they deduct your tuition and send you the remaining balance. Keep in mind that if you drop below full time, they expect the money back.
