Why the media blackout of the oil spill's extent? Why are they asleep on this one?

Numerous sources are reporting that the full extent of the devastation is being kept from the public. Why is the area over the spill a no-fly zone? Why are people forbidden to take pictures? Is it much worse than reported?
Anyone in the Grand Isle area? Who the heck is in charge?

  • I was suspicious of your website, but found this AP article. It says BP and the government is covering up the full extent of the spill, not the media.

NEW ORLEANS – While BP is capturing more oil from its blown-out well with every passing day, scientists on a team analyzing the flow said Tuesday that the amount of crude still escaping into the Gulf of Mexico may be considerably greater than what the government and the company have claimed.

Gulf oil leak may be bigger than BP says

  • Personally, I don't know what to think. However, I know I don't have enough information to form an opinion regarding a cover-up.

  • They can't be asleep on this one if they are deliberately hiding information...the black-out you mentioned. They are on it....just not publishing it.

  • Since there is an AP article saying just that, it isn't a black-out.

  • They are too busy nitpicking over whether or not Obama is made enough to concern themselves with actual investigative journalism.

Answer by Anonymous at 11:39 PM on Jun. 8, 2010

  • The Media can always slant whatever they want to, depending on their particular agenda. MSNBC and The New York Times, for example, might be more left. Fox will slant everything to the right. If a newspaper is influenced and contrlled by the CIA,they will promote their political agenda. The President can be portrayed any way a specific Media wants to portray him.Get used to it. BP will do its best to look good and we might never know what really happened.

  • The MSM ,as you call it, is usually controlled by the behind the scenes people and the Intelligence Agencies.

  • The lame stream media is owned by the same corporate interests that they are supposed to be reporting on here. Could there be a slight conflict of interest here?

Some may question the OP link as a source, but the MSM is just catching up with alternative sources on this one. Where are the reporters on the ground reporting on how this has impacted the lives and health of those in the affected areas ? Hmmm.... Maybe they ARE asleep.

  • Well, the Atlanta news stations show us new footage every day. Just watched a story showing one of the clean beaches just starting to get the oil balls (or what ever they are called). They said some of the beaches are now closed and there are signs being put up to keep swimmers out of the contaminated water. They also said that any one with health problems are being advised to avoid the beaches that are already contaminated with the oil.

I don't know where you live, but there isn't any "black out" of information in Atlanta.
