maternity pants for short ppl?

I've had a heck of a time finding maternity dress pants for work that are the right length, I'm 5'0". I've resorted to wearing regular size capris like pants... terrible but its all I've found. Any suggestions on where to find short or petite size maternity pants? Btw, I'm NOT willing to pay $40-50 a pair so places like destination maternity or pea in a pod are not an option. Oh, and one more barrier, I hate the way old navy and gap pants fit because they have the pockets on the hips, which just adds emphasis to an undesirable area.

  • Depending on how big you get maybe you can just find regular pants that would work?

I am 5'2". My mom bought me one pair of maternity pants for christmas when I was pregnant. Other than that, I dont own any maternity pants. I bought capri's from Walmart with an elastic waist band in every color they had for the summer. my DD was born in July. The pants she bought me were jeans, but they nice. They were a little long, but I could just wear shoes that had a little heal.

Do you know anyone who can hem pants for you?

  • I'm about 130 lbs but regular pants are definately not an option. I got HUGE with my last 2 pregnancies.

  • Motherhood makes "petite" in certain pants. I'm 5'2" and these fit me great, but if they didn't - there are always tailor shops!

  • I think Babies R Us sells an extender you can put into your regular pants. Essentially turn your regular jeans into maternity jeans. It's called B-buckles.

  • Other than getting pants hemmed, I don't know what to tell you. I mostly wore shorts and capris (even to work, I was just daring my boss to say something about it and he never did, lol). I'm 5'4", and it really made me mad that maternity pants all seemed to be sizes S, M, L, or XL and they were all too long. Do cothing makers really think women get taller as their bellies get bigger? We short people need to stick together and come up with a reasonable maternity line :)
