New law in UK will test marriage visa applicants on their English - thoughts?

If they do not pass the test, they don't get a marriage license.

What do you think of this new law & do you think we should follow? Do you think this might help push the US to follow through with similar laws?

  • It would not bother me one bit if we started doing something similar here. It would at least ensure that there can be communication with the schools, should there be children; with the doctors & hospitals, should that be needed; with sales people, should they go out and shop; or even over the phone, should they ever need to call their bank, the pharmacy, any customer service hotline, etc.

  • It is their country they can do as they wish. You don't walk into someone's house telling them how to live do you?

Unfortunately, there are some that do! And fellow Americans and our government allow it. It's all of that entitlement crap that they expect these days.
