  • sleeping through the night is a milestone. babies need to wake up frequently to eat, their tummies are the size of their fist

  • this is not recomended at any age. and can be a choking hazard for a 1 month old.

  • Yeah I'm with peanut. plus my ped says 12lbs is a good weight to sleep through the night under that they should wake up to feed.

  • I know that you are tired. Been there 3 times. Generally, adding cereal to a bottle will not help. S/he will sleep more at night when it is time for it. Not all children will sleep through the night until much later in their first year, if not later.

What is will likely do is constipate baby. Babies' tummies are really small. They need to eat when they need to eat to grow and develop well.

  • Not a good idea. Anyway you should start with baby on oatmeal first, not rice and not yet.

  • It won't help, in fact, the baby will wake up more because it's tummy will hurt. They aren't ready for it at that age. Loads of gas. It is also a choking hazard. Feed a little more formula. All cereal is gonna do is replace the nutrients he needs from the formula. Besides, babies sometimes still need to wake up. You now babies wake up at night, why do you expect different?

  • There is no age or weight that they "should" sleep through the night. They will do it when they are ready. Putting the cereal in the bottle is sometimes recommended by docs however it is a choking hazard AND 1 month is WAY too early for cereal. Their bellies are NOT ready for it. Giving it will NOT guarantee your baby will sleep through the night.
Having a baby means you lose sleep. That is just how life is and you need to accept that.

  • Rice is very binding for babies. They will have a very hard time pooping.
