    Simpler to link to the article than to try to explain it but basically, it's kind of like insurance against employees stealing. People who are convicted criminals usually can't be bonded by an employer.

  • I worked in banking for twenty years, we were bonded by the Federal Reserve. We had photos and fingerprints on file with the FRB in case of theft.
