Hitting

Ok my ten month old almost 11 month old has started to hit and has a serious attitude all of a sudden. He gets soooo mad when you tell him no he just screams. I just need some advice what I can do so this doesnt get out of hand. I want to raise a well behaved child. But this is all new to me. Im afraid Im going to mess up.

  • Don't tell him no. Obviously it isn't working. Figure out how to get what you want without using the word no. You have to learn how to be smarter than the baby/toddler. Here is a famous article about saying no and alternatives.

Love & Limits by Elizabeth Crary is a great first parenting book. She has a website called Star Parenting. I have a very strong willed 20 mo. grandson. He comes from a strong willed family. I'm constantly using the skills it took me 30 years of mothering to learn with him!

  • Good advice but he is 10 months old and would not understand all of that.

  • A 1o mothbold can understand simple things and tone is important. If he goes for the remote, say "How about your favorite toy!" shake toy, sound excited.

  • I know a 10 month old can understand simple things. And I use simple things but when moving him away from what he should not play with thats when he gets so mad and throws a huge fit.
