I prefer to use the NIV version. I also use biblegateway.com which has many, many different translations. You can do a comparison and see which translation you like.

  • i now have todd agnew going through my head... love the way he sings amazing grace.

I grew up on KJV but now I use NKJV and New Living Translation, New American Standard, and Complete Jewish Bible (has original hebrew names but the rest is in english)... my son who is a young adult minister loves Complete English Version.

www.biblegateway.com - here's a link where you can check out different versions on line and see which one you like.

It's a pretty simple song with typically only ONE version of it.

  • Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
    And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
    The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
    I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
    His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
    As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
    And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we've been here ten thousand years
    Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
    Than when we've first begun.

  • How much simpler do you need? It's not exactly a hard song to begin with

  • So you stick with the original instead of one of the modified "pop" versions. Most people only know the original version to begin with. Still it isn't a hard song to sing along to, unless you're trying to sing it in Latin.

  • Okay so you have no rhythm, again just go back to the traditional version and you'll be good, but it still isnt' a hard song
