How much of you monthly income goes towards your rent/morgage?

There was a time when my rent was 1/2 of what we made. We are on one income but now our rent is 1/3 of what we make each month.

  • 1/4 but that's with a 30 year mortgage. I really try to pay 500 more a month to make it like a 15 year mortgage which is about 1/3 of our income. So far so good on paying like it's a 15 year mortgage but it's only been 9 months:)

  • About 15%...we had a significant down payment to put on our house, from the sale of my single girl townhouse! :o)

  • 1/5 of our gross pay, or 1/4 of our net pay. That includes the extra we pay each month.

  • about 1/6 of our income! We got a really great deal on our house... and our lot is super small so, taxes are just $300 a year :) smaller escrow payment :)

  • About a quarter of our income... but that is only because we have the extra funds so we put extra towards our mortgage every month. If we didn't put the extra out then it wouldn't amount to nearly as much. We are on a 15 year.
