How should I spell my daughters Name?

How do you think I should spell my daughters name?

Mikinli

Mikynli

Mikilny

Micknli

The spelling McKinley spelling seems too much like a last name (yes I know it probably IS a last name) any other suggestions?

  • Any time you take a name & jack with the "accepted" spelling of it you are going to have problems. My son's name is Spenser. With an S. Not too odd, yet I bet we have spelled it out a million times in his life (he's 19). And sometimes even when its right there in front of someone, in print, they STILL spell it the "regular" way. If you use any of the spellings you have suggested, you are going to be constantly spelling AND pronouncing her name to people. It gets old fast! And remember no matter how you choose to spell it, the name sounds exactly the same when you say it. So my suggestion is, just spell it the regular way.

    Mikynli
    mikinlee
    or mackinlee

Mikilny Here you are pronouncing it Mi-kill-knee

    Micknli and here it's Mic - kne-lee

so the last two you can throw right out for spelling.

  • sorry, but i could barely read any of the names the way you chose to spell them.

McKinley is a last name, and the Mc means "son of".
William McKinley was an american president.

If you're wanting a feminine spelling, try McKinleigh

I thought of naming my son that if he had been a girl. It's my friend's middle name. He's a guy.
