Have you ever used hand soap to wash your dishes? Did it work?

I hand wash our dishes and accidentally grabbed the big refill thing of antibacterial hand soap instead of the refill of dish soap. So, we have plenty of hand soap, but are out of dish soap. Would it work the same and get the dishes clean to use it?
I don't want to leave them, I hate dirty dishes in the sink. It's one of those weird things.
It's pretty much using the hand soap or hiding them out of my sight in the broken dish washer until tomorrow when I can get more dish soap.

  • It'll be fine- one thing though, rinse them really, really, really well. The fragrances in hand soap are much stronger, and sometimes leave a nasty residue that (even though you rinsed) you can almost taste.

  • Have had to do it quite a few times just make sure you rinse them really well because as another poster said it can leave a nasty residue
