its like as soon as the $ is in the account, its gone! when is it gonna get better?!

when i get a better job! DUH! but thats so hard! rent/major bills are paid. majority of the food is paid... i get $200/month for gas, the small bills (credit card, netflix)... but somehow i go through the $200 within like 3 weeks! how is that possible? i need to keep an eye on my finances better. i used to be SO good at saving.. almost had $800 saved up with this SAME job-- things are the same, so why cant my money envelope (where i save my money at home) get bigger?

  • Are there any things you can cut back on . . . things that are not neccessities . . . and put that money toward savings?

  • It'll get better when you stop buying things from netflix and on your credit card. Seems simple enough.

  • It will get better when you buy assets rather than "stuff" and when you take control of your earning potential.

  • As you know, you have two options. Earn more or spend less.

  • trying to work on teh earning more part... its hard, but hopefully- one day.

the spend less-- for netflix, its basically a must. we have family night every fri or sat- once a week- where we watch a movie.. we go to blockbuster, all the boys (including the man! lol) wants to get a game and that itself is $9.. so in the end, we are saving if we go with netflix. i dont use my CC- i'm trying to pay it off still. i'm thinking about just putting on full paycheck a month ($100) towards the CC until its paid off, but i have the feeling i'll need to go to the CC in order to get the things we NEED (gas, food, etc).

  • The way to build up a savings account is not to necessarily earn more, it's to spend less. Scrutinize your expenses and cut out what is absolutely not a necessity. Make sure you distinguish between a need and a want; that's where most people go wrong. Plan a budget and stick to it. Pay yourself FIRST, even if you can only sock away $20 at a time; it adds up and establishes a great habit! Then you'll be forced to live off the difference - this allows you to save more and keeps you from spending on frivolous things. It's common sense really.

  • You can cancel netflix. Your local library has movies for free.
