how much should a 5 week old eat and how often?

  • As much as it specifically wants and as often. There is no set amount. Feed 4 oz and see how much the baby takes before it stops and seems satisfied, don't feed beyond that. Now, wait and see about how long it is before baby is crying for more bottle. Not just fussing, but, inconsolable and rooting. Then, you feed whatever it ate the time before and see again if that was enough to satisfy them. let the baby decide and amount of food and how long between. Mine had 4 oz every 4 hours.

  • the general rule of thumb is 2 to 2.5 ounces, per pound of body weight in 24 hours. So a 10lb baby should have 20 to 25oz in 24 hours :)

  • There is no set amount for a child to eat. no magic number for them to be satisfied. It goes by what the child needs as in growth spurts etc. Also do diaper counts to make sure you are having enough wet diapers in one day and if you are concerned about weight gain talk to you pediatrician.

  • well bf they eat on demand. ff around 2 -3 hrs. my dd drank 3-4 oz of formula
