why do some people put foil on their windows?

  • It helps keep the room dark and cold. then it blocks the heat back from the sun

  • I once put post it's on the window to our back door, it was diamond shape and impossible to find a curtain for lol, I was 18 to justify myself lol I just couldn't stand people being able to look in

  • On the windows that have direct sun beaming in them. Tin foil is a cheap way to keep the room cool/keep the sun out.

  • As other's have said it's a way to help keep the house cool, especially if that window gets direct sun light. Aluminum foil will completely block out sunlight because it's opaque and reflect it because it's silver. Reflecting the sun light away from your home/window will help keep it cooler. This is especially true if there is NO central air.  Seeing aluminum foil is cheap it can be done through out the whole house. Not only would it help those that have NO central air keep living conditions cooler, but it could also help those that have central air to reduce their bills. Again because it reflects the sun light away from the house it can help lower the bills.....
