Why is it ok?

Why is ok to jump on the "bad parent" bandwagon when something goes wrong at a home birth but if something goes wrong in at a hopsital birth it's just the way life is?

  • Well, if you have your baby in a hospital there are trained people right there, with the correct equipment, to act quickly. If you are at home it can be quite a stretch of time for emergency people to get there and they may not be experts in deliveries or pediatrics and they may not have the needed equipment. You take a much greater chance when you have your baby at home. It doesn't mean something will go wrong, but if something does you are less likely to get quick assistance.

You have to make the decision that seems right to you. However, you must be able to understand why some people would think it is safer to give birth in a hospital.
