  • I often fill the sink with cold water and vinegar to wash lettuce, spinach, items that seem more prone to E- coli, then just rinse items with thicker skins that I remove in cold running water.

  • pink dragon, the reason for even washing your vegetables and fruits is to get off the dirt, bacteria, chemicals and pesticides.

When cleaning with dish washing liquid, you are adding chemicals. Would you just pour the soap down your throat and eat it plain? probably not.

The correct way is to get luke warm water and a soft brush and lightly scrub the food.

  • Heck yes! I use warm water for everything. I've seen stuff about peroxide washes but haven't ever finished researching - which I really need to do!

  • I wash well under tepid water. I rub them all over with my hands while the water rushes over them, then I wipe them dry.
