Why is tea said to make you gain or retain weight?

Just wondered as I drink Non-caffienated, no sugar tea.

  • Tea is a natural diuretic. It doesn't make you gain weight or retain water. Quite the opposite as long as you are drinking fresh brewed.

    Now bottled teas on the other hand have added preservatives, flavors, HFCS that can indeed make you gain weight.

  • That's news to me; I've been a tea drinker most of my life and am underweight lol. If you drink a lot of it it can dehydrate you, but I have never heard about it making you gain/retain weight.
