Hubby and I can't agree on baby name spelling....

Madalyn Jane (him) or Madelyn Jane (me)
I am 31 weeks and have been asked over and over on how we are spelling our baby girl's name... Her name is a variant form of my grandmother's name, Magdalene. (She will go by Maddie.) Which one do you think? I am afraid if I don't go with my husband's spelling, he will accidentally misspell it over and over. lol
Thanks for your opinion.

  • Agree Madelyn.

  • I prefer Madeline, the traditional spelling. But if you are set on using the "y" then it needs to be Madelyn. Madalyn is made up and looks like you didn't know how to spell.

  • Thanks everyone. I also like the Madeline spelling, too... but I am afraid that people will pronounce it Made- LINE (long "I" sound), and I don't want her to have a lifetime of correcting people.

  • How is it pronounced? If its Mad-ah-lyn, then your hubby's spelling. If it's Mad-eh-lyn, then yours. But if she's always just going to be Maddie, then why not just name her Maddie?
