what to do when u get a new puppy

just got a new puppy from a friend who said she got it from a friend who couldn't take care of it anymore. it's quite scrawny and doesn't have alot of meat on her :( she's only about 6 months old and hasn't gotten any shots or anything, i'm not even sure what type of dog she is. i want to keep her but i'm not sure what shots she needs or how much this is going to cost. i'm definately going to bring her to the vet and everything but i was just wondering if anyone else has ever been in this situation and what i should do or be prepared for (finacially and emotionally).

  • The vet will know what vaccines she will need.
When you bring her in they will test her for worms and heartworms (if that's an issue where you live) and then they will start the shots if everything is okay.
    Good Luck.

  • She probably needs to be dewormed. The vet will do that & start the vaccinations.

  • you can get the deworming, all shots, and fixing for like $200. It is a small price to pay for a healthy pet! Or go to a tractor supply and buy the vaccines yourself for 4 bucks a pop, and self administer. But please fix the animal if it will roam! GL
