  • 400ish a month for a family of 4. We don't cook much here, buy a lot of pre packaged things. Love the kid cuisines.

  • Last week I went shopping for the next 3 1/2 weeks' worth of groceries, grand total: $181.24. I feed 4 - 5 adults depending on who's here, 1 teen boy, and 2 tweens.

  • I would love to hear how you all do it....or maybe it has to do with where you live and prices? .... I spend just about $200 every week for a family of 4. I only buy on sale, clip coupons and don't buy expensive meats. That includes all toiletries and paper products, laundry detergeant (cheap stuff) and diapers too. How on earth are you all spending so little? Also, I guess we need to take into account how often you eat meals at home, we never order out, never get pizza, don't go out to eat, so I'm feeding us all every day.... I just don't understand why our grocery bill is so high compared to most of you...

  • gramsmom - I think a big part of it is where you are. We live in rural TN. The cost of living here is really cheap. Making $35,000 a year here is like making $100,000 in NY. I just shop carefully, buy generic, buy in bulk, and clip coupons (though I rarely use them, I find the generic/store brand tastes just the same and is usually cheaper). I buy most of my "other" stuff - TP, paper towels, dish detergent, etc - at Dollar General. I also make a lot from scratch so I don't have to buy cookies, cakes and bread. And we always eat at home (our kids are homeschooled) too. A treat for us is when I splurge and buy frozen pizzas for "payday pizza." LOL
