How many times does your milk let down in a feeding?

My baby girl is just 10 weeks old but Im just curiouse cause on just one side at a time my breast lets down atleast twice and up to four times! I never remember them doing that with my first child. But I also thought with my first that after the first let down that there was no more milk but little did I know.

  • Well with my first in the beginning I felt let down several times 3-5 times on both sides depending on how long he fed for. With my second I don't ever remember feeling let down more then once during a feeding and after about 6 months with the first I hardly ever felt let down at all. I think this is a very personally thing and can also be different with each child. Rest assured as long as baby is having 6-8 wet diapers a day you ARE making plenty of milk for your child.

  • It varies a lot. Sometimes I feel it, sometimes I don't. Sometimes it will be a short feeding and it is just once. With longer feedings I will sometimes feel multiple let downs.

  • OP.... My let downs are extreme, they feel like needles poking me or like my boobs are going to explode lol! And every time the let down my daughter has to drink really really fast but atleast I know shes getting all the milk she wants I just wondered if other moms have experianced this. Thanks for answering ladies!

  • Sometimes I have a single letdown, sometimes 3 or 4. It all depends on how vigorously dd nurses and how long she nurses.
