Help with weaning from the bottle

My son will be 1 on sunday. My doctor wants him weaned from formula and the bottle very close to then. My question is, did anyone just take away the bottle and formula cold turkey? Or did you slowly switch? I know he can handle milk cause my doc told me to start giving it to him here and there around 11.5 months. He loves it and does just fine with it. Im wondering about your weaning experience. Will cold turkey be too hard on him?

  • I went cold turkey. Our ped advised us to get rid of the bottle by 18 months. I tried to do the slow adjust method but my daughter wanted nothing to do with sippies. So at 15 months I just threw all the bottles away and started giving her sippies only. It took about 4 days to adjust, then she was fine.

  • Awesome. My son is an avid straw cup user. He drinks all his mulk, juice and water from a cup. Only formula in a bottle.

  • I think cold turkey is mean so I let my kids give up the bottle when they were ready.
