How much?

How much is exceptable to pay a babysitter?

I need to hire a sitter for my almost 6 year old son, he is pretty much independant. Twice a week 8:30am til 1 pm

I talked to my friend about watching him and she said 5 dollars an hr, I think that is a bit high. When he was in latchkey at school they only charged $3.80 an hr.

  • In a day care setting they get that much because they are getting it for more than one child. Would you want to do it for 3.80/hr? I'm not saying you should pay that much but maybe there is a day care you can put him in?

  • 5 an hour is reasonable. My sister had been watching kids for a long time and she gets 6 an hour.

  • $5 an hour is CHEAP. My daughter charges $8 an hour to baby sit.
And $3.80 is for more than one child.....probably anywhere from 15 to 30?!

  • Going to agree that 5 is cheap.... I sitter cost me $10 per kid per hour. Needless to say we don't go out much without the kids. We can't afford it.
