Anyone have a baby that totally skipped the pureed foods altogether?

DS is 9 months old now and still won't take more than a couple teeny spoonfuls of mushed fruit or veggies. He's perfectly content with mama's milk. If I give him a slice of apple or a piece of celery, though, he likes munching on it.

  • I've never given my baby baby food or purees. Right to table food. The only foods she gets mushy are foods that come that way like baked sweet potato and guacamole. The jar food stuff is uninteresting texture wise, overcooked, and just blech :) Would you want to eat that? LOL

Give whatever you are eating. There is no need to puree things...that's just a marketing ploy to get people hooked on product loyalty.

  • My daughter was the same way. We won't even bother with the purees this time, they're expensive, overprocessed and not worth it.

  • Yeah, I wouldn't buy pureed stuff, either... I actually blended and froze some different stuff.... Doesn't look I'll use any of it! LOL!

  • Never did purees with either of my boys. Just offered whole table foods they wouldn't choke on. Google "baby led weaning".

  • My daughter never ate baby food. As a baby she was tube fed. And when she was a toddler she started eating solids. She gags on anything with a soft texture like applesauce.

  • My first was the only one to eat baby food, it didn't last long she hated it so went to table foods that I smashed, my other 2 never even tasted baby food. My 13 month old wont eat anything that is mushy, she hates mashed potatoes and applesauce.

  • I started with fork mashed foods after 6 mo with my 3 breastfed babies. La Leache League has recommended this for at least 30 years. I never fed baby cereals or jar food.
