  • My son was about 4 months. We stopped because when we burped him he wouldnt burp, but about ten minutes afterwords he would burp himself. He never got gas pains or spit up or anything.

  • You need to continue to burp a baby while bottle feeding or breast feeding. If you're still supplementing solids with a bottle or breast after a year, your child may be able to pass the gas on his own, but you can never "over burp" a baby.

  • I think we stopped around 6 months. Otherwise when they stop taking a bottle and you introduce a sippy or big kid cup.

  • I stopped with mine when they could sit up on thier own, maybe 7 months or so. But as they get older they get easier to burp. My son is 4 months now and he just takes a few pats.

  • When your child is sitting up on their own you will notice that they burp themselves. Usually around six months or so.

  • Some babies never need to be burped. Others need to be burped a lot for a lot longer. It depends on your baby. My son stopped needing to be burped rather early on. He was breastfed. Bottle fed babies tend to need to be burped for a while longer.
