How do creationists explain the purpose of male nipples?

What's the intelligence behind male nipples? Most male mammals have them - not just humans - and other than sexual stimulation in some primates, they serve no other purpose for the boys. Biological science has a pretty good developmental explaination of why that fits nicely with evolutionary theory. I was just wondering how "creation scientists" handled that bit of data.

  • I saw on oprah that males have nippled because nipples are developed in the womb BEFORE the sex of the baby is developed.

male nipples have no use what so ever. it just so happen they are made before the decision of male or female.

  • To provide an interesting topic for discussion?

    As a practical joke?

As a pacifier for when mom's out, during prehistoric times?

A place to hang decorative jewlery?

Something to twist or pinch when they get out of line?

    Just guessing, LOL

  • As MomNbabyGirl009 said - they are developed in the womb before sexual organs are developed. Also for sexual stimulation.

  • Men have nipples because the male anatomy is a modification of the original female anatomy.

  • @Ryan~ We all start out gender neutral (until about the 12th week gestation). Men have breast tissue, and are in fact, capable of breast feeding when stimulated to do so (either physically, or hormonally, or both).

  • Also for sexual stimulation.

That doesn't seem to jibe with creation - god made Adam and attached an erogenous zone to his chest, then made Eve and decided to convert the erogenous zone to a dual purpose food source?

  • Adam was created as is. God used part of Adam to create Eve. It 's almost like He said, "I almost have humanity perfect but something isn't quite right. So let me take what I have and create the perfected version." Woman was the crowning achievement in the whole creation. After creating woman, God rested. All was complete and good. Nipples were on men first. But only in woman do they actually have an important purpose. It is just good use of what was already available. Be glad we don't have to breastfeed using someplace else on our bodies.!
