How large is a c section incision?

I know we dialate to 10cm...and then probably stretch even more than that once baby is coming through, but how large do they cut a c section?

  • Depends on the size and number of babies being birthed. An emergent C/S for a large baby (or multiples) would likely result in a larger scar.

  • I think it depends on your body type and how big the baby is. I had an ER c-section after 3.5 hours of pushing. My baby was stuck in the canal, and they had to make the incision bigger in order to get her out. My incision is about 6 inches long at my hair line.

  • Wow, had did that get your baby out mompam? My first c-section was done by a young dr and he made a 6 inch incision. My other 2 were 5 inches.

  • So I feel stupid because i posted anon and didn't mean to ...lol I wonder if it depends on body type, because I have really large hips....and mine seems longer than the sizes you've been posting on here. Maybe I should measure...lol

  • 7 months later it's about 6 inches, I'm sure within a year it'll be back down to like 4 inches, I had big babies though ;)
