  • I live in TX, so it gets pretty hot here. It's already in the lower 100s.

We have invested in lots of oscilating fans. There is one in our son's room, 2 in our room, and 1 in the living room (plus the overhead fan in each room). Our son takes a nap at the hottest time of the day, we keep the lights off (and just use sunlight to keep things lit) to avoid the extra heat, and drink lots of ice water. Handling heat sometimes feels like an art.

  • We only air condition one or two rooms at most, then seal the house up and use fans to keep the cool air circulating. It keeps the house around 80.

  • We live near Seattle and it gets into the 90's only a couple of weeks out of the year, so we do not have A/C. We rotate window fans on the shaded side of the house. We pretty much acclimate to the warmer weather with the whole house fan and window fans.

  • Open the windows and turn on the fans. There are lots of days where I just don't turn on the AC because I like the natural breeze better.
