  • cheese sticks are always a good thing to send. i also send FRESH fruit with my girls (when they go to their dads... their daycare actually has HEALTHY food! rare here in SC!) some crackers... turkey roll ups are good... (lunch meat rolled up with lettuce and whatever) a bottle of water. money for WHITE milk.

i work at a school during the school year. the lunches are absolutely awful. fries are considered a veggie... and they're supposed to have 2 veggies, so they hand the kids 2 helpings of the fries! horrible.

  • My son is only 4, but goes to a pre-k program where they have to bring their own lunch. He likes to take things like turkey sandwiches, bologna sandwiches, salami sandwiches, pb&j. He also likes to bring pretzels, grapes, goldfish crackers, gram crackers, and other sliced fruits. And we got him a little water bottle and fill it with milk or gatoraid, or crystal light instead of buying the sugar filled prepackaged sugar filled juice packs.

  • I usually pack organic milk, apple slices, carrot sticks, slice of cheese, crackers, some lunch meat, yogurt or some variation of that, switching the carrots for celery or apples for grapes. I don't make him sandwiches b/c he never eats them but if I give him some lunch meat he'll eat it. I figure I'm hitting all 4 food groups, he eats all his lunch and tells me he's not hungry after eating it. Sometimes I'll send some veggie nuggets which are good even at room temp. He likes snack food, so as long as he's eating healthy snacks why not?

  • we always packed lunch
drink - horizon box milk in vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate- water - juice pouch / roaring water
vegtable- sugar snap peas, baby carrots, sliced cucumber, grape tomato, pickles,
fruit - apple slices , peach slices, fruit salad, fresh berries, dried fruit , whole fruit, apple sauce , etc
sandwich - luncheon meat, tuna salad , cheese , sunbutter and jelly, chicken salad , etc
sometimes we add yogurt tubes or cups , cheese cubes or sticks, and every once in a while a snack cake treat.

  • Some type of sandwich, sometimes a wrap or a bagel with cream cheese to add variety. I get the smaller sized bagels. Also yogurt, a fruit(banana, apple, blueberries, strawberries, grapes, plums, are her favs) sometimes i will put veggies in a container and send in a container of dip for them. Also some type of crunch thing, like grame crackers, ritz, rice crackers, popcorn, and then sometimes a treat type thing, rice crispy treat, wagon wheel, a cookie, cereal bar, granola bar that type thing. She also loves peperoni sticks!
I dont send juice boxes very often, they are just sugar. I got her a nice water bottle and she takes water.
